Celebrating Friendship

We've had a whole summer blow by and I can't believe it's ending next week
(well summer's academic calendar, certainly not AZ weather)
I'm uploading pics (1,423 of them actually)
And I thought I'd blog the tip of the iceberg
which is yesterday's photos =)
Something I REALLY love and appreciate about Kayli & Brooklyn is that they are crazy crafty, creative and ambitious.
So when Brooklyn's friend, Makayla, announced that she was moving, they stepped in -without a second's thought- and asked if they could host/throw her a "going away" party.
Her mom was grateful and so was Makayla.
I can honestly say that these recent celebrations, holidays and parties are now being planned in huge part with my girls help.  They LOVE every detail of party planning, like their mom.
Except their mom is tired more.
And appreciates passing the torch. Anytime possible.

 This party was 110% them.
(Cleanup counts as the extra 10%)
The girls put together a "travel" theme
party of vintage map garland, props & decor, complete with a photo booth
and fun games.

Even the invites they designed & made to look like passports.

Brooklyn has recently been diving into photography more.
They set up the photo booth and she was the event photographer, capturing all the details.

I'm grateful that they value their friendships so much.
I'm really proud of their choices and watching these sweet friends all bloom together.
Courtlynn, one of Kayli's besties since kindergarten,
is a regular around the zoo.  Love her to pieces.
And she is a ton of help- does she ever stop smiling?  No.
It was a bitter sweet day yesterday, seeing all the girls together for the last time with Makayla.  I know she was feeling that too.

But the girls made sure that she had plenty of momentos from the party.
And they were creative in doing that.
Kayli drew a VW van with "strings" coming from the top.
Each girl printed their thumb to make a big "bouquet" of balloons above the VW.
She was SO excited to have it, and Kayli painted it to match her new bedroom colors.

The girls took a bunch of polaroids, each one going home with one.

They played a watermelon water game.
Not sure what that involved because, again, I wasn't in the center of it :)
 There were some tough goodbyes,
but it was obvious how much these friendships mean to each other.

And that is really something worth celebrating.
