It was a loOng summer of heat (and we got out of over a month of it!)
John and I got into the attic yesterday and started pulling down totes of fall decor. John loves this. I try to ask him to help carry those down when he's in a good mood :))
We still have lots of finishing touches and one more bin to sort through. But the girls stayed up until 9 PM helping and cleaning up.
This morning we started back at it. And yAY it is almost done!
I rarely post pictures of our seasonal decorating but now I regret that as it's fun to watch our style & decorations evolve. So I will start now.
It's fun to see our house come to life with whatever season we are in.
I go a little -ok a lot- nuts with it :/
But the kids love it and we have tons of traditional things that come out (like seasonal pictures and special momentos) only for that holiday.
The entrance door to our home is large. And I don't want to pay crazy prices for huge wreaths to fit it to scale. So I've started making my own.
My crafting genius Marni showed me last year how to do these easy burlap wreath on cheap wire forms. So each holiday and season I have been making my own. They are so easy and (relatively) cheap.
This is the Halloween one (it looks a lot cuter at night with the twinkle lights and pumpkins in the planters next to it.
Burlap, a 36" wire form, boots, miscellaneous random picks, witch hat and a fallen palmleaf (to make a broom) is all I needed to complete the wreath! Under an hour and $30 later and I have a gigantic wreath that I would have paid a fortune for.
These are the old bottles I saved and got from friends to make those cool "halloween potions" we see in boutiques. I hodge podged vellum and added rhinestone and glitter (after I took this pic). Then we filled them with candies and fillers.
Find me if you are on Pinterest because I'm always finding DIY goodies on the cheap! John calls me Frugal Fannie. I'll take that as a compliment? Ahemm
Happy Fall wherever you are!
Is where you treat your friends like family and your family like friends"
...one of my faves!!
