My heart is overflowing with gratitude.
I have to note the cool whip container I brought over for dinner. It contains grandma Ginny's chip dip. Grandma always served her "famous" (to us family) chip dip in this. It could have been the fanciest, crystal laden dinner, and we always remember her storing it in this blue/red container. We love it. And we honor her memory every holiday and many celebrations by making her dip and serving it "grandma style". Funny thing is, I have to buy the cool whip container & remove cool whip so I have the container as it usually gets tossed out accidentally. It's these traditions and things that make us smile. It's the little thing- the ways that we pass on to younger generations, that may not be monumental but means something to us.
I am so grateful to have women on both sides of my family that have been strong, independent, talented and HARD WORKING (in and out of the house) ladies. They served their families first. I always remember that. And it gave me a foundation and example to do the same. I try not to take that for granted.
My amazing Aunt Arlene whom I love and admire so much. So happy to spend thanksgiving with her and Uncle Don.
A day overflowing with family, food and love. Missing those who weren't with us, but enjoying those who were.
My mom fwd'd this Thanksgiving prayer to us and I loved it.
11.26.15
a prayer of thanksgiving
Heavenly Father,
We thank you for this food
~and remember the hungry.
We thank you for health
~and remember the sick.
We thank you for family and friends
~and remember the lonely.
We thank you for freedom
~and remember the oppressed.
May these remembrances stir us to service, and that Your gifts to us be used for the good of others.
Amen
So happy you had a happy Thanksgiving - and love the prayer! xo
